SWD Tuesday Night / Knights Stadium Gymkhana Competition Series
SWD will be hosting a Gymkhana style AutoX Competition in the ajoining lots In
conjunction with the SWD Drift Clinic's ($40) taking place on Jan 26th,2010 and
then on the 3rd or 4th Tuesday evening of each month at Knights Stadium. Its a
Competition for points . FTD wins his/her entry fee back. Trophies for 1,2,3 .
Points for the top 6 and hopefully some contingency prizes as the series
develops
Gymkhana = A precision driving course that will require the driver to quickly
menuever around cones and within gated areas for the fastest time. Some Drifting
techniques may be used to accomplish a variety of meneuvers.
Gymkhana events are time and/or speed events in an automobile. These can feature
obstacles such as cones, tires, and barrels. The driver must maneuver through a
predetermined "track" performing many different driving techniques. What
separates gymkhana from traditional autocross events is that the gymkhana
requires drivers to perform reversals, 180 degree spins, 360 degree spins,
parking boxes, figure 8s and other advanced skills. Drifting is also encouraged
where helpful or necessary. Essentially, a gymkhana is any event featuring a
starting point, a finish line and some sort of "obstacle" to get through,
around, or by, all within a time limit.
